The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested eight suspected vandals and 3 suspected rapists in the state.
Parading the suspects last Tuesday at the command’s headquarters in Lafia, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command, Muhammed Suraju Idris said the eight suspects were arrested for vandalising Railway slippers and Rail line Irons in the state.
“The 8-gang suspects vandalised Rail line irons and Railway slippers loaded in J5 vehicle with registration number QAP 405 XA at about 1:00hr in Aridi Ajega along B-A-D in Lafia at the point of take off”. The arrest was made possible as a result of intensified surveillance on government critical infrastructures, assets and projects.
“Members of the gang are: Sani Isa age, 24, Moses Sakpa 23, Zakari Ayuba 22, Allanana Kabiru 19, Zakari Sabo 20, Idris Haruna 25, Salifu Ayuba 20 and Zakari Yusuf respectively, who are all from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of the State, “he said.
The command’s spokesperson further said that a 3-man syndicate who ganged raped a 12-year old girl, Aisha (surname withheld) in Bakin Rijiya, Lafia East development area in Lafia were also arrested.
According to him, two of the suspects, Umar Ali Aso aged – 35 and Abdullahi Ali, 40 were arrested in Bakin Rijiya while Mustapha Jibrin, 30 was arrested in Wanaque, adding that each of the suspects confessed to committing the crime.
“The suspects specialised in defiling/raping of minors but luck ran out of them when they were carrying out their nefarious act with their latest victim”. They have confessed to have committed the act three (3) rounds, “he said.
The PRO said that the suspects would be charged to court when Investigations are concluded.
