From Esther Akaa, Lafia

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives aspirant for Akwanga/Wamba/Nassarawa Eggon Federal Constituency in Nasarawa State, Barr David Dumwe has declared support for the re-election bid of Governor Abdullahi Sule, come 2023.

The Voice reports that Dumwe recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside his supporters at a grand reception held in Wamba Local Government Area of the state.

Barr Dumwe declared his support for Sule on Monday when he paid a familiarisation visit to the State Working Committee of the APC at the party’s secretariat in Lafia.

According to him, his support for Governor Sule was due to his commitment and a clear vision for the development of the state, through the various infrastructural projects executed across the state within the last three years.

He explained that he defected from the PDP to give his full support to the governor to ensure his victory in 2023.

“I contested on the platform of the PDP and lost but before joining politics, I had what I intended to achieve and won’t sit down and allow my dreams and aspirations to go down the drain, therefore, I decided to shop for the best platform and the people I can partner with to ensure that we achieve this dream.

“Already, I have seen the activities of our dear governor, the progressive governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule and I have equally seen that of the leadership of the party within my local government area and ward, and I feel it will be to the best interest of my people and the general public too.

“I am here with the party to see that we support Governor Sule to succeed beyond 2023,” he said.

Dumwe appreciated the leadership of the party for formally receiving him into their fold, noting that the party has demonstrated that it was large to accommodate and protect the interest of its members.

He, charged members of the party to showcase the achievements of the present administration under Governor Sule to the people of the state to enable him succeed.

Responding, the state Chairman of APC, Dr John Mamman, who welcomed Dumwe and his supporters, said the party was united and committed to winning election in 2023.

Mamman, congratulated the former PDP member for joining the party and assured that the party was big enough to accommodate everyone.

“Don’t feel bad that you are coming late into the party, there is every opportunity for you to grow and achieve your dreams in APC,” he said.

He charged him to remain focused on his dreams and aspirations, saying “for every office you seek and did not win, accept it in good fate. We should always appreciate God in every situation we find ourselves.”

Mamman noted that Sule remained an asset to the party and the state, given his achievements in all sectors within the last three years.

“All the past governors of the state have done well but Engr Sule remains exceptional and we have given him a vote of confidence to re-contest and consolidate on the achievements recorded so far, and we shall all work hard and support him to succeed,” he said.
