All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in North East Senatorial District of Benue State have given conditions for their support to the party’s senatorial candidate, Barr Emmanuel Udende.
The youths said he must make an undertaking to serve for a single term and state in clear terms the dividends of democracy that he would attract to the area if voted their senatorial representative.
The Kwande youths made their position known at Ajio Country Home Hotel, Shangev-Ya, Kwande Local Government Area during a visit on Mr B.B Nungwa, an APC chieftain in the area.
Speaking through the Kwande Local Government APC Youth Leader, Mr Tersoo Humbe last Thursday, the youths said they would no longer condone the political maltreatment that is being melted out on Kwande over time.
According to them, Kwande in recent times has been known as a home to visit only during elections.
“We often give out overwhelming votes with no single project attraction in the area at the end of the day,” he lamented.
Mr Humbe said: “The administration of Sen. Prof. Daniel Saror, 1999-2007, Sen. Joseph Akaagerger, 2007–2011, Sen. Barnabas Gemade and now Sen. Gabriel Suswam have yeilded nothing for us in Kwande.”
He said while Kwande remains at the losing end, the politicians make efforts and attract projects to their immediate communities.
“We have resolved that the 2023 election cannot be the same as the APC senatorial candidate for Benue North-East, Barr Emmanuel Udende must be voted on the condition of a single term and as well, pen down the dividends of democracy he shall bring to the door steps of Kwande if elected.
“Failure to do so, Barr Emmanuel Udende will not receive our support,” he added.
The youth leader said they were presenting their resolve to Mr Nungwa and equally tasked him to channel their position to the appropriate authorities.
15 youth leaders across the 15 council wards were present at the event.
