The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) and former Governor of Anambra state, Mr Peter Obi, Wednesday assured Nigerians that he has the capability to change the negative narrative if elected president in 2023.

Obi, who spoke at the flag-off of his presidential campaign in Benue at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Square in Makurdi said his mission of becoming the president of Nigeria is to fix the problems confronting the country and its citizens. He added that Nigerians are looking forward to having a leader with productive ideas that can pull the people out of poverty.

The former Anambra governor said, “Nigeria is insecure, Nigeria is unproductive and a country is being threatened and at the verge of collapse. Going by the enormity of Nigeria’s problems, my mission is to solve their problems. The firm duty of a leader is to be a problem solver.

“I maintain that Labour Party has an array of candidates who are qualified and competent to address issues of flood, end insecurity and provide the youth with stable and sustainable livelihood,” he stated.

The LP flag bearer, however, assured Nigerians that if elected, prudent management of the nation’s resources would be the main focus of his administration. He said agriculture would be given the desired attention, noting that the unity of Nigeria would be rekindled.

Earlier, in their separate remarks, the national Chairman of the LP, Barr Julius Abure, vice presidential candidate, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed, National Women Leader, Dugu Manuga, governorship candidate of the party in the state, Herman Hembe, Chairman of the party in the state, Comrade Ibrahim Idoko and representatives of support groups all commended the party’s supporters across the state for their efforts thus far, in canvassing more support for Obi/Datti ticket.

They all expressed optimism that the LP would win the 2023 general election given the confidence of Nigerians in Mr Obi and other candidates to turn things around for the better in the country.
