Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SKAPU) from Kaduna State, has said they they will not support, nor vote for any political party which has same faith flagbearer and running mate.
Spokesman SKAPU, Luka Biniyat made the opinion of the association known recently in Jos, Plateau State, while on a solidarity visit to the officials and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau Council.
Mr Biniyat noted sadly that the act of political parties presenting candidates of the same faith as been noticed in the forthcoming 2023 general election was an act to spite other religions.
He revealed that the present administration in Kaduna State which has the governor and his deputy as both Muslims was orchestrated by Governor Nasir El-Rufai to spite people of Southern Kaduna, who are predominantly of the Christian faith.
It is on record that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has Muslim-Muslim ticket in Sen. Uba Sani as flagbearer and Dr Hadiza Balarabe as running mate.
Similarly, the Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima are of the same Muslim faith.
SKAPU spokesperson told Plateau journalists that his people from Southern Kaduna have resolved not to vote for any candidature of political parties at all levels that has their candidates and running mates of the same faith.
Speaking on his travails as a practicing journalist, who have been prosecuted wrongly, and severally for reporting the hidden truth; Mr Biniyat said the challenges have rather strengthened him, made him an international figure as an exceptional journalist of repute who does not compromise.
Mr Biniyat said he was in Jos, the Plateau state capital to thank his colleagues for standing by him when the Kaduna government was after him and jailed him severally for no just cause.
The veteran journalist of 27 years standing, charged his younger colleagues to be courageous, factual and practice the profession according to it ethics and guidelines.
Responding, Chairman, NUJ Plateau Council, Mr Paul Jatau appreciated Mr Biniyat for his zeal in the journalism profession; and standing for the protection of his kinsmen through the pen profession.
The Plateau NUJ chairman however, cautioned practicing journalists across the country to always deeply verify information before publishing such for public consumption.
