Abounu gives scholarship to widow’s children

As part of efforts to encourage hardworking staff, Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu, has awarded full university scholarship to the children of Mrs Fidelia Iortyange, a widow and cleaner at his residence.

The deputy governor announced the scholarship to Mrs Iortyange’s children at the 2021 End of Year party held at the deputy governor’s office.

He commended the awardees for their diligence and dedication to duty which has made them stand out among other staff, and promised each awardee a refrigerator.

In his remark, Engr Abounu described the event as an occasion for the ordinary worker, stating that principal officers like him cannot function properly without their assistance. He commended them for their hard work and dedication to duty, praying that they attain great heights as they continue to put in their best in their duties.

Engr Abounu further urged the staff at his office to set targets for themselves that will help them excel in their field, stating that with hard work and dedication to duty, they’ll reach the peak in their career.

Earlier, in her welcome address, Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Mrs Felicia Alubo, thanked the governor and deputy governor for providing funds for the event, and thanked staff of the office for their hard work, dedication and cooperation.

She urged the awardees to continue to be hard working and called on the other staff to take their jobs seriously.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mrs Regina Idris, the Confidential Secretary to the Deputy Governor, assured that the award will spur them to work harder and be more productive.

The awardees are Regina Idris, Mr Okoko Okoko and Mrs Fidelia Iortyange.
