The Head Coach of Heartland FC of Owerri, Christian Obi has attributed his team’s 0-3 loss to Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, to the agitations by the Team ‘A’ players over non-payment of their salaries and match bonuses which caused them not to turn up for the match.
Coach Obi made the declaration last Wednesday, after the Week 30 match, decided at the Aper Aku stadium Makurdi, adding that, ” we lost so many scoring chances and my boys were new in the game. He stated further that we did not come with our main team”.
He said,” although, the players wrote to the League Management Company LMC lodging their complaints, they were told to hold on and that they would look into the complaints but he wondered why they were bent on not coming”.
The coach of the Owerri based side who explained that in the game of football, sometimes it went wrong, stressed that, ” you play well but one or two errors that you commit, you start creating scoring opportunities for the opponent and that was what happened in the game. Little problems within the midfield, made it look that way”, he submitted.
Also speaking, the highest goals scorer in the 2020/21 NPFL season, Lobi Star’s Ossy Martins said they started the game poorly due to little hitches occasioned by the injuries some of them were nursing but with God on their side, they picked up immediately and at the end of the game, they were able to cripple the wings of the Christian Obi boys.
Martins said they would continue to do their best and justify what they were paid for in order to make Lobi fans happy.
