A former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen Barnabas Gemade, has rated the administration of Rev. father Hyacinth Alia, high saying it has kicked off on a sound note.
Sen Gemade made this declaration during an interview with journalists shortly after a closed door meeting in Makurdi at the Benue State Government House when he led some of his supporters on a solidarity visit to the governor, Tuesday.
According to Gemade, “As a very strong member of the APC and also an aspirant in the last gubernatorial election in the state, having pursued electioneering to a logical conclusion, a government is formed and I have to give the governor my full backing as he steers the affairs of the state.
“That is why I am here with leaders of the party that have been working with me to encourage the governor on the good work he is doing”, he explained.
On his assessment of the Alia led administration so far, he said, “I have seen a very enthusiastic governor who is doing all that is possible to lay a foundation for good governance and what is needed is support from all and sundry, and especially people like me, so that he will be encouraged to proceed”.
He called on all Benue citizens to give the governor the necessary support to enable him provide quality leadership for people of the state.
Also fielding questions from newsmen, the Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, expressed appreciation to Sen Gemade, for throwing his weight behind his administration.
He described Senator Gemade as a critical stakeholder of the APC and one who has been there and knows the dynamics of party politics, adding that his demonstration of sportsmanship and support means a lot, not just to his administration, but for the party and the entire state.
“For him to have deemed it necessary to lead such a delegation to come and encourage me means a lot to me and the entire APC family in the state.
“I know that some things happen and along the line, some sort of disaffection takes place but I truly appreciate his resilience which is fueled by his common purposeful focus to unify the party and ensure that it is in one piece because what unites us is bigger than whatever we seek to divide us.
“As a statesman, he has demonstrated sportsmanship which clearly shows that his support for the APC has not wavered”, the governor noted.
The delegation led by Sen Gemade was made up of APC stakeholders from across the state.
