Benue women have been assured that their welfare is the top priority of the present administration.
Governor Hyacinth Alia stated this recently in Vandeikya Local Government Area during the official flag-off of training of presidents/chairmen and secretaries of associations and cooperatives.
Represented by the State Commissioner of Cooperatives, Urban and Rural Development, Hon Mrs Joy Ahunde Luga, the governor stressed that his administration is for the people, especially rural women.
According to a statement signed and made available by the Information Officer of the ministry, Chirah Martins Tertsea, Hon Luga emphasized that the governor is committed to ensuring that poverty is reduced to an insignificant level in the state.
The commissioner informed the people that the ongoing loan is a revolving loan, meaning participants will be able to access higher loans if they pay according to the schedule.
Earlier, the lead consultant, Mr Jeremiah Ayo, while delivering a lecture titled, ‘Group Dynamics and Team Building’ called on the leaders of the associations and cooperatives to ensure members use the loan on ventures that will help them repay the loan on time in order to access higher loans.
In their separate remarks, the SA to the governor on Rural Development, Arch Erick Adokwu and Hon Denis Dzawua all charged the people to key into the programmes of the present administration, assuring them that more is on the way for them.
Some of the participants who spoke including: Agatha Dondo, Mrs Dansoho and Sarah Kwaghngu all applauded the efforts of the governor in trying to empower them, stressing that it was the first of its kind in the state.
