The African Network of Adolescent and Young Person Development (ANAYD) has planned a four-month project “NETWORK INITIATIVE” to improve key population friendly public healthcare services in Benue State; a harmonized consortia system with support from, Initiative Sankofa D’Afrique De L’ouest (ISDAO) which focuses on the 2nd priority of Nigeria Communities Advocacy Plan.
The ANAYD State Programme Officer, Mr Pius Peter Ogolekwu, who made this known recently in a chat with The Voice disclosed that, ANAYD’s approach brings innovation with respect to Human Centered Design (HCD) approach, built on human right principles to positively influence knowledge and behavioural change, strengthen capacity of relevant government stakeholders and health service providers with the aim of promoting safe, non-discriminatory key population specific and integrated services for Adolescents and Young Persons in their diversities.
“It is also aimed at promoting safe and non-discriminatory key population specific and integrated services for Adolescents and Young Persons in their diversities. This could be achieved by creating friendly public health care facilities where personnel are trained to attend to all the infected or affected AYPs and KPs in particular”. He said.
He further explained that, the organization is regional and it is working for adolescents and young persons, which include adolescents, girls and young women (AGYW); adolescents and young people living with HIV (AYPLHIV), Young Key Populations (YKPs) and Young People living with disabilities (YPLWD) both infected or affected with HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria, adding that, the project is implemented this Month in Benue, Kaduna, Rivers and Anambra States.
