The National President of the National Union of Agricultural and Allied Employees, Comrade Simon Msughter Anchaver, has expressed satisfaction with the labour friendly posture of Governor Samuel Ortom that has been responsible for the industrial peace in Benue State.
Comrade Anchaver who stated this in a solidarity message to the governor, government and the entire workers of the state during in commemoration of the recent Worker’s Day celebration, noted that the sustained dialogue between government and the labour has led to the smooth and harmonious government/labour relationships.
The national labour leader also commended the workers for the support and keeping faith with the governor, stressing that they have not relented in their efforts in driving government policies and programmes and enjoined them to sustain the tempo.
The former Chairman of NLC, Benue State Council, while encouraging Governor Ortom to redouble his efforts to improve the non-existent harmony also commended the governor’s tireless efforts to flush out the suspected killer Fulani herdsmen to enable farmers to carry out farming activities in full scale in the state.
He assured that the national leadership of the agriculture union will continue to support his determination of peace for farmers to achieve food security in the state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
According to him, he will use his position as a member of the National Council on Agriculture and National Council on Water Resources, also as an indigene of the state to champion the cause of the governor in prohibition open grazing and encouraging the establishment of ranching before President Muhammadu Buhari.
Anchaver appealed to his immediate constituency, who are the.farmers, to do their best to save the state from the imminent food scarcity being threatened by herdsmen attacks that have disrupted farming activities in some parts of the state.
He called on the Federal Government and state governments to intensify efforts for peace to return to troubled areas to enable farmers to continue with their farming activities and also grant them soft loans to enhance capacity for food production.
