APC N/C Zonal Chairman lauds Alia’s choice

The national organ of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has started efforts to placate aggrieved members of the party in Benue State, so as to reposition it and make it work with a united spirit ahead of commencement of political campaigns and subsequent elections.

Towards this, the party has dispatched a team to interact with party faithful on issues bordering on the unity and success of the party at all levels in 2023.

Zonal Chairman of the  APC North Central, Muazu Rijau, who led the team comprising officials of the zone, had interaction with the  state exco, youth, women, and select support groups of the party in the state on Thursday, at Precious Events Centre, Makurdi.

The zonal chairman, in an address said the North Central Exco was in Benue on a fact finding mission by the directives of the National Working Committee (NWC).

He stated that the “NWC and Nigerians, who wish Benue State well desire that the state returns back to the mainstream of national politics as an APC state.”

Rijau, therefore, lauded members of the party for the choice of the gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election in the state, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, noting that it was the right choice.

Earlier, Chairman of the APC in Benue State, Comr Austine Agada stated that the party in the state was battle ready and expressed confidence of victory in the 2023 general elections.

He described the visit as “extremely important and critical”; ‘to interface with the party faithful and get first hand information on how best to move the party forward.”

Agada, who extolled the leadership capacity of the Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Sen. George Akume for giving the party in the state the necessary leadership and funding, however, appealed for more support to enable the party move from strength to strength in the state.

Others who spoke separately during the meeting including a former governorship aspirant in the state, Chief Terlumun Akputu on behalf of Zone A, Chief Akange Audu for Zone B, and Prof. John Enyi for Zone C, appreciated the NWC for the meeting and for standing by them to produce Rev. Fr Alia, as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC for Benue State, in spite of all odds.

The speakers also appealed to the NWC to assist in resolving some grievances within the party in the state and sued for greater inclusion of Benue people at the national level.

Also, in his remark, Chairman APC Elders Council, Chief Simon Shango, on behalf of APC stakeholders appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for the numerous projects he has executed in Benue State and appealed that federal roads in the State be rehabilitated for ease and safety of transportation.
