Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has said the call by Senator Istifanus Gyang for the National Assembly to take over Plateau state House of Assembly, following leadership crisis is to the detriment of the state.
A press text issued in Jos, on Wednesday and endorsed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang, said the call by the National Assembly member is uncalled for, and unnecessary.
“The APC as a peace-loving party condemns all actions including Senator I.D Gyang’s ill-motivated motion which would further plunge the state into chaos and conflict. Calling on the National Assembly to take over the legislative functions of the Plateau State House of Assembly is the greatest disservice any legislator would do to his state.
“This call is totally obnoxious and selfish and should be ignored for what it is – an aberration.
“The people of Plateau state know and are tired of those who believe in violence as a means of gaining access to power. Whenever an election year approaches, they go into their diabolical workshop to burn midnight oil to cause chaos and dissent. Senator Gyang should not take Plateau people’s patience and resilience for granted,” the statement read.
The APC scribe advised Sen. Gyang to pursue the case of the entire Plateau state, rather than being concerned only on the issue of the Plateau state House of Assembly leadership tussle, adding that he should have fought the cause of restoring total peace in the state.
“Going by his well known antecedents in the Senate, Senator Gyang has chosen to remain a chief wailer, rather than taking the proactive move of arresting the spade of insecurity that have bedevilled Plateau State which pre-dates the Lalong administration.”
It will be recalled that Plateau state House of Assembly has been entangled in leadership tussle about a month now. As a result, Police have sealed off the entire assembly complex.
