The Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Matthew Abo has warned groups and cultural bodies from usurping the powers vested in the directorate of Arts, Culture and Tourism by organising activities without recourse to the office.
The Commissioner handed down the warning when the Executive Director of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Daagba paid him a courtesy visit in his office, recently.
Hon Abo explained that Arts and Culture is vested with the responsibility to organize, coordinate and approve Cultural activities in the state, therefore, anybody with an initiative in such regard has to go through the office for proper documentation and coordination.
He directed Mrs Daagba to submit comprehensive proposal of her concerns that will enhance the smooth operation of her office to him to be presented to Governor Alia for urgent attention.
The commissioner thanked Governor Alia for being steadfast in handling his release from his abductors, adding that God is merciful and kind to him for protecting his life.
Earlier in her address, Mrs Daagba presented some of the issues affecting their smooth operations which included: need for computer set, utility vehicles, intrusion by ministry of Education in the affairs of the directorate, Employment of performing troops, permission to carryout festive celebration to mark the birth of Benue which was created 3rd of March, 1976 among other things.
