A Special Investigation Task Force set up by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu to unravel the reported attack and attempted murder of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Sunday arrived Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The team, led by DCP Abba Kyari, an expert and seasoned investigator, consists of operatives from the Tactical Investigation Units of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) including other experienced, crack detectives with specialised competencies in crime scene investigation and ballistics, fingerprint analysis and other core areas of forensics.
According to a press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, CP Frank Mba, the team is expected to take over and cordinate all on-going investigation into the incidence with the aim of investigating all sides of the reported attack with a view of apprehending and bringing to book persons suspected to be linked to the incidents.
Meanwhile, the IGP has charged the investigatiive crack squad to be professional, thorough and clinical in their investigations. They are expected to liaise and work with the Benue State Police Command in synergy and with other relevant members of law enforcement to ensure that they deliver on their mandate.
