The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Mangu local government area of Plateau State Markus Artu, has imposed an indefinite dusk to dawn curfew on the entire local government, following renewed Killings of persons.
“A 24 hour curfew has been declared in Mangu Local Government Area with effect from 18 june,2023. As such there will be no vehicular movement of any sort.”
However, the press text revealed that “only Security personnel and workers on essential duty will be allowed to move.”
The curfew, which has taken effect since Sunday, also banned the use of motorcycle within Mangu local government area.
“Furthermore,all movement on motorcycles has been banned until further notice.”
Our reporter learnt that motorcycle is the most efficient and available means of transportation in Mangu.
Investigations by The Voice gathered that most of the attackers use motorbikes in carrying out the mayhem on citizens.
Meanwhile, the said curfew has created untold hardship to commuters on the Mangu/Shendam and Pankshin road, which, is the only route to central and southern Plateau State; which have over nine local government areas.
The affected local government areas includes Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam, Wase, Mikang, Langtang North and South, Shendam and Qua’an-Pan local government areas.
Should the curfew be not reviewed soon, it shall crippled farmers and other economic activities in central and southern Plateau State.
