Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said the late Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Don Awunah lived an accomplished life and excelled in his career.
He stated this Thursday when he visited the family of late Awunah to commiserate with them.
Governor Ortom, who said the late Awunah was very close to him, described his death as sudden and sad.
“It is with heavy heart that I am here today to commiserate with you on the demise of our brother, father and friend, Don Awunah.
“Last year I hosted him with others in celebration of their elevation. Today, it is a different story. The Bible said, we should celebrate with those who celebrate and mourn with those who mourn.
“Be strong. Let his good will continue. It is God that created both life and death. He knows the beginning from the end. The Bible said we should give thanks to God in every situation. Be strong in the Lord,” he said.
The governor encouraged the family to be consoled by his legacy and take solace in God.
Responding on behalf of the family, Donald Awunah Jnr expressed appreciation to the governor for coming to condole with the family and his support all through the period their father was sick. “Sincerely, we are grateful for all that you have done for us, Your Excellency,” he said.
AIG Don Awunah died early hours of Monday, May 23, 2022.
