A baby boy of less than a week suspected to have been abandoned by his mother was found dead in a culvert, in front of Mercy Clinic, opposite Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Gboko.

It was observed that the run-away mother of the baby deserted him in the early hours of Thursday, 21 January, 2021.

The Voice further gathered that it was an unidentified passerby that alerted the neighbouring community over the sad incidence, however, the innocent boy could not be rescued as he was already visibly death before he was sighted.

Onlookers who gathered at the scene were visibly shocked, sorrowful and grieved over the inhumane behaviour exhibited by the unknown mother of the child, while some wished the baby to be alive to have been saved.

“That girl must be wicked and God will surely judge her”…” the mother of that innocent baby will one day look for a child to be called her own”…”those are the kind of women that usually saturate prayer crusades asking for fruit of the womb”…”she should have given the boy to someone or orphanage, than abandoning him in gutter…” among others were the dominant statements at the scene.

It took a while before officers of the Nigeria Police Force, ‘A’ Division, Gboko came and took the corps of the innocent baby for onward burial arrangements.
