The Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago has appealed for more intervention from the Federal Government and other agencies to rescue Nigerlites from the scourge of banditry .
Governor Bago made the appeal when he received on a courtesy visit, Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Thursday at Government House, Minna.
He commended VSF for the 3,000 households that willl benfit from their laudable intervention and assured the organisation of his administration’s support, as well as called on international development partners and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of Nigerlites.
Governor Bago appreciated VSF for the intervention, saying it has come a that time Nigerlites are yearning for it, adding that local government areas like Munya, Lapai, Kontagora, and some parts of Borugu are areas that are affected by banditry attacks and need support beyond the three mentioned by VSF.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation of VSF, Professor Nana Tanko said their mission in the state is to complement state government’s efforts on seeing to the welfare of victims attacked by bandits.
She explained that three local government areas were identified after various assessments, namely: Kontagora, Lapai and Shiroro, stating they have shortage in food supply,
She stated that 3,000 households, with 1,000 each from of the selected local government area s would benefit from the intervention.
Prof. Tanko stated that food items such as rice, vegetable oil, beans , sugar and salt would be distributed to them to the benefiting households.
