Bandits attacked traders at about 6:30pm last Wednesday at Abaji Market in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue state.

The bandits were said to have disguised themselves as buyers  before they started shooting sporadically with one person dead while nine others sustained various degrees of gun shots injuries and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in the area for immediate medical attention.

As at the time of filing this report, a combined team of both the police and other security operatives over powered the bandits and were subsequently repelled to their hideout in the forest with gun shots injuries while a cordoned search operation is on going in the area.

According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue state Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, stated that, the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the General Hospital Katsina-Ala while more re-enforcement teams have been drafted to the scene of the incident to assist men and officers on ground.
