Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said that bandits are having a field day in the country due to the ineffectiveness of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government.
He stated this Friday at Adikpo Comprehensive College, Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area while receiving over 2,000 members of the APC and other political parties into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I am very excited to receive new members into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today. Nigerians have seen that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party that has deceived Nigerians on several fronts and this has made the people of the country to move en masse into the PDP.
“Security wise, the country has been handed over to bandits. The PDP have the capacity to bring a positive turn around,” he stated.
He noted that Benue State is completely PDP and expressed optimism that the party will continue to wax stronger, judging from the recent outings in Area Council election and the bye-election in Plateau State.
Delivering his speech, Senator representing Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam pointed out that, “Nigerians have seen the situations in the country currently. They have seen the PDP as alternative platform.”
He charged the defectors and people of the state on being united to ensure the success of PDP, stating that Nigeria is in dire need of real men like Governor Ortom who can stand firm on issues of national unity, irrespective of who is involved.
“I congratulate those who have chosen to join us today. You are home. I assure you of equal opportunity in the party,” Suswam said.
The party’s Deputy Chairman, Isaac Mfo, who spoke on behalf of the state Chairman, John Ngbede disclosed that the party is happy with its growth in Benue North East as a result of the tireless efforts of Senator Suswam, Bob Tyough and other stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former Chairman of Kwande Local Government, Terhile Iorchir, said the people of Kwande are indebted to Governor Ortom for his immense support for them. “I am optimistic, Your Excellency that Kwande will be supported to produce the next Governor of the state in 2023,” he added.
The following also joined the PDP with their supporters; Col Basil Kwembeh (Rtd), James Vandefan, Engr John Ikyembe, Samuel Uke and Moses Ichor.
