Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Saturday attacked the residence of late Dan’azumi Musa, killing his brother, Sale Musa alongside his son, in Baka village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The bandits had a week ago attacked the same family, killed Dan’azumi Musa and his son.
A statement issued and signed by the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said the bandits, operating in groups in the recent attack also abducted a number of persons, mostly women and children.
The statement said that troops based in the Sabon Birni general area were swiftly mobilised to the location to rescue the abducted persons.
“They engaged the bandits and rescued some captives from one of the bandit groups, while another group had earlier escaped with another set of hostages.
The rescued are listed as: Aisha Isah,
Halima Isah, Hannatu Umar, Hassana Umar, Hadiza Isah, Fadilah Bashir, Zaharau Isah, Maryam Bashir, Mikah Zakari, Yunusa Isah, Karima Umar, Kadija Umar, Rukaiyah Isah and Sumaiya Bashiru.
“The following were kidnapped: Saudatu Garba, Laraba Idris, Auta Mansur, Ibrahim Danlami, Hauwa Sale, Fatima Idris, Safara Sale, Shafaatu Idris (infant) and Fiddausi Mansur (infant),” the statement said.
The statement said that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has conveyed his grief over the repeat attack, and condoled the family of the slain father and son, while offering prayers for the repose of their souls.
It concluded that Governor El-Rufai lauded the efforts of the troops for their quick response and thanked them for so far rescuing 14 victims.
