The Parish Priest of Catholic Youth Centre Parish, Makurdi, Rev. Fr Benjamin Shima Ukpanya has called on Christians to be resourceful in planning for the work of God.

“God is calling on us to be resourceful in planning for His work and His kingdom. A time will come when we will give account of our stewardship here on earth,” he stated.

Fr Ukpanya made the call Sunday, in a homily during the Thanksgiving Mass to God in honour of Tor Sankera 1, His Royal Highness (HRH), Abu King Shuluwa, for divine intervention, healing and N20 million appeal fund for the parish hall project.

He stated that one can only be entrusted with higher responsibility if he was able to handle a lesser one effectively.

The parish priest urged Christians to always pray for those in authority at various levels. “If we pray for our leaders, God will give them the grace to govern effectively,” he said.

He admonished Christians to cultivate the habit of thanksgiving, in all circumstances, stating that God is always there to deliver believers from all afflictions.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, in a remark expressed appreciation to God for his healing power upon the Tor Sankera and his family. He prayed that God continue to preserve the family.

HRH Shuluwa explained that he decided to organize the thanksgiving to God for his saving grace upon his life and family. He disclosed that he was sick and God healed him.

The Tor Sankera 1 said God has given him a second chance to live and therefore, deserves all the praises.
