All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter has adopted direct primary for nomination of its governorship flag bearer in 2023 general elections.
The governorship primaries is slated to take place on May 26, 2023.
Opposition APC in Benue State took the decision Sunday during a stakeholders meeting of the party, held at City Bay Park and Garden, Makurdi.
Nine Benue State governorship aspirants under the APC, who purchased governorship forms and were screened for the primaries have agreed to direct primaries as the best option in electing the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 governorship elections.
They are: Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, Mathias Byuan, Terwase Orbunde, Barr Sam Ode and Prof. Terhemba Shija.
Others are; Terlumun Ikya, Godwin Tyoachimin, Arc. Bernard Yisa and Ayom John
Those absent at the expanded Benue APC stakeholders meeting include:
Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Herman Hembe and Michael Aondoakaa, SAN.
With the direct primaries, all card carrying members of the party are eligible to vote.
