Ikyange made the declaration at the opening ceremony of the Games, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State. He said, ” as you work towards harvesting Gold medals, I urge you to be more focused and committed in order to achieve your targets of winning medals, as it would be your token of appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for releasing funds to the state, to participate in the age grade competition”.

The Commissioner who said he was happy that the governor was determined to ensuring total reformation of the sports sector in the state as he demonstrated by sponsoring Benue contingents to the Games, noted that, “this is a sign of a better future for those who may have lost hope in the sports industry in the state”.

He however, appealed to youths in the state, to take advantage of Governor Alia’s commitment to Sports development, by taking up a career in sports that would enhance their lifetime development and would also earn them more greatness in the industry.
