The Benue State government has donated nine (9) refurbished Hilux vehicles to the Benue State Commands of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) to aid their operations.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Col Paul Hemba (Rtd), who made the presentation in his office on Monday in Makurdi, said the gesture was to motivate the security agents in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He explained that effort was being made by the state government to purchase new Hilux vans while 23 others were currently being refurbished in the workshop which will be presented to other security agencies in the state as soon as they are ready.
Benue Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, who was represented by DSP Haruna Madaki, expressed appreciation to Governor Samuel Ortom, as well as his adviser on security, for making the vehicles available. He stated that the donation will go a long way in the fight against criminality in the state.
