A twenty-six year old Gboko based inventor, Jacob Aondona Tyo, who is constructing an airplane prototype, says he is determined to finish the project and fly it in no distant time from now.
He said he will prove his capacity to invent an aircraft for both the state and federal governments, arguing that with proper investment, aircrafts could be manufactured in Nigeria instead of sourcing them from other countries.
The budding inventor who spoke in a telephone interview with The Voice stated that the project which he undertook since 2018 was at its finishing stage of fixing the engine as well as electrical connections.
He maintained that the delay in completing the project was due to financial challenges, given that he is the sole sponsor.
Tyo explained that he is a Secondary School dropout and acquired the knowledge from his father, who according to him, built the first car in Gboko Local Government Area in the eighties.
According to him, apart from the aircraft project, he has invented a less-fuel-consuming generator which can also be powered with cooking gas, in addition to a cooker which uses both electricity and charcoal, mini tractors and corn shelling machines to enhance farming activities in the state.
He also advised the youths like him to develop the ideas of engaging themselves in similar activities as according to him, hand work is rewarding.
“Who knows where what I am doing will take me to? Maybe in the process I will be called upon to continue producing it. So youths should be creative to make our country proud”, he said.
