Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Titus Uba, has described as unfortunate the unwarranted attack on the Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom on his farm at Tyo-mu along Makurdi-Gboko road.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Wuese Orshi, in a statement said his principal expresses shock on the unfortunate incidence and wondered why, instead of adopting the current normal way of cattle rearing as championed by the Benue state governor, the herdsmen have resorted to mounting a violent attack on the governor.
He stressed that, the attack on the governor is not unconnected with Governor Ortom’s stance on the strict adherence to the Anti-open grazing law which suggested ranching of animals as best practice for animal husbandry globally.
“The Kyan representative condemns the attack in strong terms and enjoins the governor not to be distracted by the unfortunate incidence and continue to defend his people against all odds,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the Speaker thanked God for sparing the life of the governor and charged Benue people to sustain prayers for the Ortom led government to continue on the path of excellence.
