The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), has floored telecommunication giant, Globacom Nigeria Limited in a legal tussle over refusal to remit taxes owed the Benue State Government for the laying of optical fibre cables round the state.
According to the BIRS Media Aide, Mr. Terkula Ati, the suit; number MHC/187/2019 was filed by Chief F.A Nomor of F.A Nomor and AMP Co on behalf of BIRS.
He said, the Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice T.A Kuma of High Court 6 on the 4th November, 2020 awarded the plaintiffs (BIRS) the sum of 612 million Naira and 10 Thousand Naira as appearance cost.
This is the second feat achieved by BIRS, under Mr Andrew Ayabam’s leadership, after the board’s N900m victory over MTN telecommunication Limited earlier this year.
