Benue State government has flagged-off distribution of 18,181 sets of plastic chairs and tables for secondary schools in the state.
Delivering his remark at the flag-off held at the state Ministry of Energy Science and Technology Tuesday, Governor Samuel Ortom stressed his administration’s commitment towards education in the state.
Represented by his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, he said: “This administration places a lot of emphasis on education, right from it’s inception in 2015, many primary schools have witnessed infrastructural development in the state.”
He explained that his administration decided that classrooms in the state should be equiped, and stressed that the state government will continue to supply more chairs and tables periodically, until they provide conducive environment in schools in the state.
The governor further stated that his administration will not relent in its effort towards maintaining the lead in education in the North, stating that the state government will continue to rehabilitate schools in the state.
In his welcome address, the supervising Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Dr Godwin Onyiwona thanked the state governor for the large heartedness shown to schools in the state, stating that the chairs and tables will be distributed to all secondary and technical colleges in the state.
The Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke, in her closing remark thanked Governor Ortom for his efforts in the educational sector, stating that education is the bedrock of all that they stand for in the state.
