Benue State Government has assured that, it will take over the sponsorship of the children of the Late Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Emmanuel Ikwulonu to University level.
Governor Samuel Ortom announced this last Friday in Obagaji, Agatu Local Government Area, during the burial of the late Commissioner.
He stated that, the deceased was a brilliant man who rose to the position of medical consultant at a young age and impacted greatly at the State Executive Council.
The governor, on behalf of the Benue Government, asked the Almighty God to grant the soul of the deceased commissioner, eternal rest and his family, the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
In his funeral oration, the Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu said, the death of Dr Ikwulonu is devastating and touching, noting that, the deceased was intelligent, committed and a man who was ready to learn fast.
In his oration, the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Titus Uba said, the deceased embarked on a medical attention with expectations from his family and colleagues that he would return healthy, while he described the death as very painful.
The House of Representatives Member for Agatu, Godday Samuel, in his oration said, the deceased was one of the community’s committed sons who worked against all odds to attain greatness, adding that, the deceased was intelligent and humble.
In separate orations, John Ngbede, and Barr Michael Gusa, expressed sadness over the death of the deceased, while they prayed God to keep his family.
Earlier, the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Prof. Anthony Ijohor said the deceased came into the state EXCO full of hope and commitment to serve and prayed God to console his family.
