Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mallam Yakubu Lawal.
Lawal was reportedly kidnapped on Monday at 8:40 pm near his country home in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
A family source, who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen trailed the victim from Nassarawa-Eggon town to where he was kidnapped, close to his residence.
The source further stated that the kidnappers shot sporadically to scare people away, in order to achieve their mission.
“Having scared the people away, the hoodlums abducted the commissioner and took him away to an unknown destination,” the source said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel said he was yet to receive any official communication about the incident.
It would be recalled that unknown gunmen on Saturday invaded and killed a staff of Government Science Secondary School (GSS), Nassarawa-Eggon in the same LGA the commissioner was abducted.
