An Abuja based business tycoon and former senatorial aspirant for Benue North East, Mathias Byuan has joined the 2023 governorship race in Benue State. He declared to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Byuan who disclosed his intention to Sankera APC stakeholders at the residence of Solomon Wombo, a former Special Adviser to the Governor on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Benue State, in Makurdi, Monday, promised to address the current security situation in the state.
He said the insecurity situation in Benue was beyond theoretical approach, therefore, he would adopt practical approach in the act of governance.
According to him, he has developed laudable programmes that will engage the youths and improve the economic viability of the state.
Byuan noted that Sankera geo-political entity is the area that gave Benue the food basket status and lamented the devastating insecurity situation that has ravaged the area and promised deliberate efforts to stem the tide.
He said he was fully prepared to reposition for growth and development and sued for the people’s support to emerge victorious during nomination and at the polls.
Speaking separately, Emmanuel Udende, Leader of APC in Sankera, Solomon Wombo, Paul Biam, Jonathan Agbidye, Joseph Nengean, for Ukum, Nyam Door for Logo, Ahaa Shom for Katsina Ala, all expressed confidence in the ability of Byuan to change the Benue narrative.
The speakers described him as a man of trust, perseverance and industry, who, with the needed support can attract the needed development to the state.
They however, said Sankera people were ready to identify with an aspirant who will be ready to stop the stream of tears on the faces of Sankera people by putting an end to their marginalization and neglect in employment, appointments and distribution of projects.
According to the speakers, the elders in APC would be speaking with one voice and have so far decided to support the Jechira people for the 2023 governorship.
Byuan also held a similar meeting with the Iharev APC stakeholders.
