The Chancellor of Makurdi Diocese, Rev Fr Jude Ortese has expressed dismay over the robbery attack on a Priest of the Diocese, Rev Fr Solomon Mfa last night.
Fr Solomon Mfa is the Parish Priest of St Augustine Parish, Makurdi and also the convener of a Tiv socio-cultural group, Kyegh Sha Shuwa (KSS).
Gun men who are yet to be identified allegedly attacked his Parish house and made away with his property including laptop and cash.
The Makurdi Diocese’s Chancellor told The Voice today that Fr Mfa’s attack is one of many robbery attacks that have been launched on different Catholic priests and Churches in the State, recently
He however, doubted that Fr Mfa’s attackers came with the intention of desecrating the Church as was the case at St Peter’s Parish Low Level Makurdi.
“The attack on St Peter’s Parish Low level was clearly a case of desecration. The robbers did what they did to make a mockery of our articles of worship” he said.
Fr Ortese who said he was yet to ascertain the level of damage done by Fr Mfa’s attackers, regretted the growing rate of armed robbery incidences in the State.
It would be recalled that recently Fr Mfa has engaged in resource mobilization through the social media and other channels to cater for the needs of internally displaced persons living in camps around the state.
