Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has sworn-in Dr Vincent Aondokaa as the new Chairman, Governing Council, College of Education, Oju. He urged Dr Aondokaa to use his wealth of experience to further reposition the institution.
The governor, in a brief ceremony on Tuesday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, said the appointment of Dr Aondokaa was to add value and reposition the institution to achieve and enhance education; and general service delivery at the college.
He congratulated Dr Aondokaa and disclosed that his appointment was as a result of existing vacancy and called on him to see his appointment at the tail end of his administration, as a call to service and not to amass wealth.
“This administration adheres to the core values of justice, fairness, transparency, accountability and equity. Let these values guide you in the discharge of your duties.
“My administration does not encourage the diversion of public funds into private pockets. Any appointee found wanting will be severely sanctioned,” he said.
Governor Ortom, who assured the new governing council chairman of his support to enable him succeed, advised him to diligently supervise his subordinates to ensure all funds released to the college were used for the intended purposes.
Dr Aondokaa, in a remark said he was not new to the institution as he had schooled in the college in the 70s. He lauded the giant strides of the governor in the educational sector and promised to run affairs of the institution with his team to create a conducive environment for learning.
Dr Aondokaa takes over from Dr Simon Aondona, who had resigned from the position on January 24, 2022.
