Chairman of the Commissioner’s Forum in Plateau State, Commissioner of Lands and Survey, Yakubu Dati, has said the forum has contributed N60 million to purchase expression of Interest and nomination forms for the state Governor, Simon Lalong to vie for Plateau South Senatorial District seat in 2023.
Dati disclosed this in a press release availed The Voice on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
“The commissioners have concluded plans to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms along with Prof. Danladi Atu, the Secretary of the Government of the State (SGS) and the erudite Chief of Staff, Hon Noel Donjur on Tuesday, in line with the APC guidelines released by the national Secretariat,” the statement said.
It also said Governor Lalong is eminently qualified, and the most suitable for the national legislation job for Plateau South constituents.
“Governor Simon Lalong has restored Plateau to its place of reckoning by promoting peaceful coexistence and developmental projects for the benefit of the common citizens irrespective of tribe, religion and creed.
“His leadership qualities as Governor of Plateau state and Chairman of Northern Governors Forum has promoted unity and accommodation amongst different spheres,” the statement added.
Should Governor Lalong accept the offer by the commissioners, he might contest primaries against the incumbent Senator Nora Dadu’ut, the first female senator from Plateau state who is also of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
