By Egbe Attah

The Chairman, Muslim Community Leadership Forum, Otukpo, Benue State, Dr Umar Ajape, has called on members of the forum to contribute their quota to the development of the community, rather than waiting for government.

Dr Ajape, made the call on Sunday, while expressing joy over the donation of solar streetlights to Muslim Quarters, Otukpo, by one of his subjects, Jimoh Gbadamosi.

He noted that, the community which has suffered neglect over the years can overcome its developmental challenges through communal efforts, rather than waiting for outsiders.

“We must change this attitude of waiting for government or politicians to provide us amenities. This community has suffered much neglect and I think the only way we can change the narrative is to embark on communal effort. We appreciate Gbadamosi for his initiative and we urge others to emulate him,” he explained.

The community chair, thanked the donor and his family for his donation, praying God to bless him abundantly.

Making the donation, Jimoh Gbadamosi, said he was moved by the lack of basic amenities in the area, adding that, the gesture is also his modest contribution to uplift the living standard of his people.

He promised to electrify all the streets in the area, as well as assist in the provision of other amenities that will make life more meaningful for the residents.

Many residents of the area including, Garba Geryma, Abdulrasak Suleiman, Abdulrasak Isah-Dogo among others, expressed delight at the philanthropic gesture of the donor whom they described as God sent.

The Voice gathered that, Gbadamosi, a businessman from the area, who currently resides in Abuja, has been instrumental not only to the development of many communities, but, also empowerment of individuals.
