In a bid to cushion the economic impact of COVID-19 on parents and students, the Benue State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar has extended his scholarship programme to all Benue students schooling in tertiary institutions across the country.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Tersoo Alabar, the commissioner had earlier set a committee to work out modalities to disburse scholarship to only Jechira students schooling in higher institutions but with the current economic crunch occasioned by COVID 19, he had a rethink and instead extended it to all Benue students in the country regardless of their zone.
The statement notes that the gesture is aimed at ameliorating the economic impact of COVID-19 on parents and students upon the beginning of new academic activities.
It further explains that the commissioner having come from an academic background understands the need for proper education which is the bedrock of the development for every society.
The statement holds that the distribution of forms for the scholarship commences on 1st February, 2021. It added that more details about the scholarship will be communicated soon.
