From Esther Akaa, Lafia
The children of dons at the Federal University of Lafia (FuLafia) and the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) have been joined in holy matrimony.
The dons, Prof. Amin Zaigi of the Department of History and International Studies, FuLafia, gave out his daughter, former Miss Tonze Amin Zaigi, in marriage to a senior lecturer at NSUK, Dr David Jacho’s son, Mr Success Jacho on Saturday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Speaking in an Interview with The Voice immediately after joining the couple in matrimony, Pastor-in-Charge of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) District Church Council (DDC) headquarters, Keffi, Rev. Chillah Waziri, charged the couple to submit themselves to each other for a successful marital life.
Rev. Waziri who quoted from the Bible said Jesus Christ commanded that wives should submit to their husbands as to the Lord and husbands should love their wives just as Jesus loved the church.
“The couple must accept whatever comes their way because marriage is sweet and bitter. They should look unto the Lord Jesus Christ and submit to each other. By doing that, they will live a successful marital life.
“It doesn’t mean that marriage is immune to problems because whether we like it or not, as we live here on earth, we are bound to see crisis. So I want to advise the newly wedded couple that when problems come their way, they should look unto Jesus who is the author and perfecter of our faith. The one who has the power to change every situation,” he said.
On his part, father of the bride, Prof. Zaigi, expressed gratitude to God for keeping him alive to give out his daughter in marriage.
He said: “I just gave out my first daughter in marriage and the feeling is simply indescribable. I am happy and excited. I feel fulfilled that this is happening today.
“My prayers for her is that she will also find fulfilment and if the Lord permits, she should also be able to give out her children in marriage someday. I am also excited about the people who have honoured us. God has honoured us and a lot of people from all works of life are here and it can only be God and I am very delighted.”
Also speaking, mother of the bride, Mrs Nenpan Amin Zaigi who described her daughter as a calm and peaceful person, prayed God to bless her new home.
“I want her to go and demonstrate that peace which she is known for in the new home that God has given her. She is a peaceful person and once you are peaceful, you have a way of drawing people to yourself. A peaceful person is a healer and I believe God is sending her to that home to complete it and make it whole,” she said.
