Echono has made Benue, Nigeria proud, says Gov Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono has made Benue State and Nigeria proud with his outstanding qualities which has continued to bring national assignment his way.

The governor stated this Friday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi when Arc. Echono paid him a courtesy call.

“We commend you. We are very proud of you. Thank you for setting the pace. Our prayers are with you. We are very optimistic that you will finish strong. We know that you have what it takes to succeed,” he said.

Earlier, in a remark, Arc. Echono disclosed that he was in the state to inspect some ongoing projects at the Joseph Sawuan Tarka and Benue State universities and take a look into new requests that have been made to the organization with a view to making some interventions to upgrade educational facilities.

He commended the governor for his contributions to the state and country and assured him of his support.

“Thank you for what you are doing for our state to secure us and also provide for our advancement.

“I want to assure your Excellency, that we will use the platform to do our utmost, in order to re-establish the place of Benue and the comparative advantage that we have in the area of human capital development.

“I recalled that Benue State University where I am also a proud alumnus is the first state university in the entire Northern region of Nigeria. I believe with the right investment, we will be able to retain our pre-eminence status in the North in education which we will use to uplift and emancipate our people,” he stated.

The former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education  lauded the management of the two universities for their support and prayers.

He was was accompanied on the visit by the Vice Chancellor, Benue State University (BSU), Prof. Joe Tor Iorapuu and other management staff.
