Vice President, Zone D, Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Zone D, Christopher Atsaka has felicitated with the Muslim community in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a Sallah message personally signed by the Vice President, he urged them that as they celebrate, they should use the period to reflect on the state of the nation and pray for it to flourish.
He said there is need to promote unity in the country as sectionalism is gradually tearing the nation apart.
He also advised those in the field of journalism to discharge their duties with fairness, equity and great professionalism.
The message read: “The occasion of Eid-el-Kabir calls for love for one another in the spirit of unity as our Muslim brothers and sisters mark Sallah.
“May we use this period, not just for celebration but pray and reflect on the realities in our country, so that Allah will look compassionately upon us and heal our dear country of the daunting security challenges and economic hardship and restore sanity in the political system.
“May God continue to bless and direct journalists to discharge their professional responsibilities for the good of the society, to advance good governance and national cohesion.”
