Governor Samuel Ortom has called on Nigerians and people of Benue State in particular to emulate the selfless services of Mr Vanger Iyorhon which is centered on the unity, progress and development of his community, Benue State and Nigeria as a country.
The Benue State Governor made this known Sunday during the reception in honour of Iyorhon who clocked 83 years at JS Tarka Foundation, Makurdi.
Governor Ortom described the celebrant as a true father, epitome of truth, bridge builder and a pillar of development not only to his community but the entire Benue State. He said, the celebrant is the one who introduced him to politics and has continued to stand by him.
The governor called on Nigerians to be part of seeking peace and development of the country, rather than making inciting unconstitutional statements that can throw the country into anarchy.
On his part, the Chairman of the Occasion, Speaker Benue State Housw of Assembly, Mr Titus Uba said the celebrant is a true elder and a pillar behind Governor Ortom’s administration. He prayed to God to grant more years to the celebrant.
In an address, the Chairlady of the Occasion and Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Addingi, described the celebrant as a living ancestor who has stood for the development of his community, Benue and Nigeria at large.
Addressing the gathering separately, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Terwase Orbunde, Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke, Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende and Member representing Makurdi/Guma at the Federal House of Representative, Benjamin Mzondu described the celebrant is a peace maker, pillar of support to the governor and a man who stands for the good of all.
Earlier, in a homily, the Priest in Charge of Saint Dominic Sachi-Makurdi, Reverend Father Michael Murphy charged Christians to serve the Lord faithfully to inherit the kingdom of God.
Fr Murphy charged the celebrant to continue to put his trust in the Lord and to sustain his services to humanity for greater blessings from God.
In a vote of thanks, the celebrant who thanked all for their contributions and support for the success of the occasion prayed God to bless all.
