Nigeria’s 63rd Independence: Alia charges Benue people on hard-work, transparency

Nigeria @ 63: Be promoters of peace, unity, Bago urges Nigerlites

A former Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority, (NEPZA), Engr Terhemba Nongu, has denounced the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Benue State.

Engr Nongo who led about 200 members to defect from the PDP and to register in the on going APC registration and revalidation exercise in Mbabur council ward of Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State, over the weekend, said he was overwhelmed by the show of solidarity from the people of his constituency.

He therefore, promised to work closely with prominent sons and daughters of the area, particularly a former governorship aspirant on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hinga Ibiem and Arc. Asema Achado, to improve the living conditions of Gwer people.

The former MD who was also a governorship aspirant in the 2019 elections, further assured his co defectors that the APC was a party to rely on for the dividends of democracy.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Occasion, Hinga Ibiem, called on members to be very conscious and selective in choosing leaders to represent them at all levels of governance.

He also said his decision to dump the PDP was as a result of his desire to team up with the progressives to better the lot of the people.

Receiving the defectors, the APC Chairman of the local government, Terfa Ikereve and that of the ward, Terfa Amande, both welcomed the defectors and assured them of equal opportunities.

Others who spoke during the occasion including Anyan Gungu, David Usar and Barry SS Zoho all commended the resilience and determination of Engr Nongo in trying to change the narrative of Masev people.

They disclosed that Engr Nongo has contributed to many roads and electricity projects in the area.
