Fed Uni Wukari gets new VC

A New Vice Chancellor has been appointed for the Federal University of Wukari, Taraba State. He is a Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Jude Rabo Sammani.

He succeeds Prof. Abubakar Kundiri, whose tenure has elapsed.

Until his appointment, Prof. Sammani was a professor with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State.

Prof. Sammani who hails from Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State attended various institutions including: Tadnum Primary School, Bogoro Local Government Area, Bauchi State from 1967 to 1975; Gindiri Boys Secondary School, Gindiri, Plateau State from 1975 to 1980; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1980 to 1986; University of Ibadan from 1988 to 1990; University of Maiduguri  from 1995 to 1999 as well as International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya in 2001.

The new VC worked as academic staff on tenure appointment with the University of Maiduguri from 1987 to 2005 and transferred his services to the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 2005 where he was working until his appointment as Vice Chancellor.

His general work description is teaching, research and community service. He taught different category of students ranging from undergraduates to post graduates and supervised them in the area of veterinary.

He served in different capacities including External Examiner, External Assessor, member of accreditation panels and also offered consultancy service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as well as several university committees.

He has done a lot in the area of research work and publications and has also garnered enough experience in the area of administration.

The appointment of Prof. Sammani has attracted felicitations from personalities across the country and beyond. Among  them is the Vice President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone D, Comrade Wilson Bako, who described his appointment as well deserved and prayed God to grant him the wisdom and strength to move the university to an enviable height.
