Residents in Gboko in Gboko Local Government Area and environs have witnessed first rainfall of the year.
The rainfall which took in batches and without prior signs of visible formation was accompanied by thunder and lightning in the early hours of Sunday, 14 March, 2021.
The Voice observed that the heavy part of the downpour started around 1:00am and ceased after 2:00am, while the lighter part of the showers started around 4:44am and stopped around past 7:00am.
Speaking with The Voice, a Gboko resident, Mrs Member Bagu expressed happiness over the rainfall and said, “it has brought down heat to its knees and would help farmers prepare their farmlands.”
Another Gboko resident, Mr Msugh Ugee, while lamenting over the advantages of early rainfall in a year predicted; “this year will be full of bumper harvest as God has signalled to complement farmers efforts with adequate rainfall.”
Recall, rainfall stopped in Gboko and indeed Benue and other parts of Nigeria in October last year and since then it did not return in Gboko until now which is an indication for the beginning of rainy season.
