Benue State Deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu has urged Christians to give thanks to God in all circumstance.
Speaking at the one year memorial church service in honour of late Samuel Abounu, younger brother to the deputy governor, held at Methodist Church, Otukpo’icho, Engr Abounu explained that whether in good or bad situations, people should give thanks to the Almighty God, no matter how difficult it seems.
He maintained that he is consoled, that his brother in his letter years on earth, devoted his life to the service of God and believes that he is resting in the bosom of the Lord. Also, he prayed that God will continue to comfort the family, especially the wife and children he left behind.
In his sermon titled “Appreciation that Commands Acceleration,” the minister-in-charge of Methodist Church, Otukpo’icho Circuit, Rev. Aaron Ankeli Onuh urged Christians to learn to thank God in good and in bad times. He explained that nothing runs down a man like ungratefulness and enjoined all to cultivate the habit of thanksgiving.
Rev. Onuh who read from Luke 17:11-19, explained that just like the one leper who returned to thank Jesus for healing, we should imbibe the culture of thanksgiving, stating that heaven demands thanksgiving from every man, and that thanksgiving commands progressive grace.
The Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, His Grace Most Rev. Oliver Aba led prayers at the deceased graveside, where prayers were offered for the family of late Samuel Abounu.
