In it’s effort at focusing on addressing issues of strengthening policy framework and provision of good business enabling environment, the GIZ is organizing a two-day policy workshop for selected senior public and private sector officials from Niger State.
The workshop which is currently holding in Abuja has the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Matane, Head of Service, Hajiya Salamatu T. Ahmed, permanent secretaries, directors general, directors and other stakeholders from the private sector in attendance.
Declaring the workshop open, on Tuesday the SSG told the participants that the state government will continue to create enabling environment for private sector initiatives to thrive in the state.
Matane, who is also the Chairman, GIZ Steering Committee in the state disclosed that private sector is the engine and prime mover of a modern economy in any country.
According to the SSG, “a robust partnership between Niger State and GIZ was germane to the growth of the private sector,” describing the workshop as timely.
In his remark, the Head of Policy and Strategy Component, GIZ SEDIN, Mr Akinropo Omowere revealed that one of the objectives of the workshop is the continuous building of the capacities of senior public and private sector officials, through the provision of requisite information and updating their knowledge on the topics, processes and operational framework of SEDIN programme.
