In his bid to reposition the education sector in the state, Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, on Monday inaugurated visitation panels to four tertiary institutions in the state, with a charge on members to be thorough in their assignments.
The institutions are: Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo; Akpera Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev; Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi; College of Education, Katsina Ala and College of Education, Oju.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Sam Ode, said the panels have been entrusted with a crucial mission to audit the activities of the management of the schools from 2016 to the present day.
“May I note that this is a task that requires dedication, thoroughness, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
“As we all know, citizens, especially young people who have a strong educational foundation often use same for their own prosperity and that of society as a whole. As the place that holds the key to the future, our schools deserve functional facilities, prudent management and the conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning. All these highlight the need for the inauguration of these visitation panels.”

Governor Alia expressed optimism that the panel will deliver on their mandates. ” We have full faith in the professionalism, expertise and the experience of the esteemed members of the various panels”
The governor urged management and staff of the various institutions to extend their full cooperation and support to each of the visitation panels for them to succeed, stating that the exercise is not a moment of defense or resistance but an opportunity for growth and improvement.
Chairmen of the various visitation panels pledged to carry out the assignment diligently in order to help shape the future of education in the state and called for the cooporation of the heads of the various institutions.
Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo visitation panel has Professor John Enyi as Chairman; Akpera Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev visitation panel is headed by Prince Andy Uwouku while Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi; College of Education, Katsina Ala and College of Education, Oju visitation panels have Edwin Omerigbe, Prof Otor Okwu and Prof Aka Imbwase as Chairmen respectively.
A similar panel was inaugurated early this month to carry out the same task at the Benue State University, Makurdi.
