Preparatory to the official flag-off of the presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Jos, the Plateau state capital, November 15, Governor Simon Lalong has inaugurated a 40-man committee with a charge to adequately secure the expected visitors.
“I charge you to do everything possible to ensure that we have a very colourful, safe, secure, and memorable flag-off. We are expecting high calibre guests starting from PCC Chairman, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR; our National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu; Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima; all APC Governors; National Assembly members as well as other distinguished leaders of our party from all over the country,” he maintained.
Governor Lalong, who doubles as the Director General, Campaign Council for the APC flag bearer, stated this Sunday, at Old Government House, Jos, and explained that selection of the members is based on merit and capacity of the individuals.
It will be recalled that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and the campaign directorate has approved Jos as venue for the flag-off of campaign for its candidate.
The governor charged the committee to ensure proper coordination, particularly strict security compliance during and after the event.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, who represents Wase Federal Constituency is to jointly chair the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) with the Deputy Governor of Plateau state, Prof. Soni Tyoden, as co-chairman.
Secretary to the Government of Plateau state, Prof. Danladi Atu is expected to be the Secretary of state LOC, while Speaker of the state Assembly, Yakubu Sanda as member.
Among the 40-man LOC of the APC presidential campaign flag-off are all serving APC National Assembly members and all candidates contesting the 2023 election on the platform of the APC as members of the committee.
The LOC members also captured persons living with disabilities, youths and females; Lalong had said the gesture is to carry everyone along.
Responding, Wase assured Governor Lalong that they will work hard to deliver on the mandate given them.
The deputy speaker said the time frame was limited, therefore, they must kick start work immediately with a closed door meeting.
He said they will mobilize massively at the event, pointing out that it is a privilege that Plateau State is hosting the ground breaking event of the party.
Wase further stated that Plateau State has to be grateful to the APC administration, notifying that all the tertiary federal institutions allocated to the state shall take off next year, because it have been captured in the 2023 national budget.
Earlier, in a remark, state Chairman of the APC, Rufus Bature, in a welcome address said the list was carefully chosen, therefore, the members must prove their worth.
Bature charged the members to consider the task given them as an upmost priority, that must be delivered as directed.
According to him, Plateau is home for the APC and its presidential candidate, therefore, members of the party should accord him the desired welcome.
