Gov Ortom apologizes to Army, families of killed soldiers

Governor Samuel Ortom has apologised to the Nigerian Army and families of killed soldiers who were murdered at by bandits at Bonta community, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Benue State Governor gave the apology during the burial of the 12 soldiers Monday at the Military Cemetery, Makurdi.

He said, “in the course of managing the issue, if I made any comment that was offensive to the families of the deceased soldiers, I say, I’m sorry.”

The governor condemned the killing of the soldiers who were in the area to keep peace, while he added that, an attack on security agencies is an attack on all. He called on all to team up, in order to carter for the families of the deceased left behind.

Governor Ortom assured that, his administration would join hands with security agencies and stakeholders to arrest and bring the perpetrators of the act to book. He condemned the attack, describing it unwanted and uncalled for.

The 12 soldiers buried are: Captain Adeyemi Tayo Adedayo, Warrant Officer, Augustine Solomon, Sergeants Felix Danbuwa, Zubairu Galadima and Lance Corporal Lasisi Adebayo.

Others are: Corporals Ali Baba, Ruwana Mishau, Haruna Lawan, Privates Okangba Ogochukwu, Sadiq Suleiman, Aniete Odioye and Anthony David.

Present at the burial were, the Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Adeyemi Yekini, Brigadier General I.G Lepdung, members of the Benue State Security Council, families of the deceased officers and other sympathisers.
